LocationX-M16-1 (AOA ANTENNA MODULE)

LocationX-M16-1 leverages Bluetooth 5's Angle of Arrival (AoA) and Angle of Departure (AoD) protocol level support to enable the development of RF-based real-time location determination systems and applications.

This board features the Silabs 2.4 GHz Wireless Gecko Wireless System-on-Chip and an antenna array optimized for accurate direction finding performance. The LocationX-M16-1 connects to Silabs' Wireless Starter Kit Mainboard, which is included in the Wireless Gecko Starter Kit.

This gives you access to the debug interface, Virtual COM port, packet tracing, displays, buttons, LEDs, and additional features on expansion boards. Support for the Simplicity Studio toolset allows developers to take advantage of graphical wireless application development and visual energy profiling and optimization.

Hardware Overview

The LocationX-M16-1 board is equipped with 16 antenna arrays and 5 RF switches, and supports ARM Cotex-M33 for CTE extraction based on BLE 5.1.

Block Diagram

The LocationX-M16-1 board serves as a key element of a modern location detection solution. At the heart of this board is the Silicon Labs AOA NCP Locator, a key component that supports CTE extraction according to the BLE 5.1 specification.

The locator is directly connected to an array of 16 antennas. This antenna array is specifically designed to increase the accuracy and efficiency of direction finding. Each antenna captures the signal strength and direction and transmits it to the locator, which allows you to obtain accurate

location information.

The antenna array includes five RF switches in this system. These switches control the signal path between the antenna array and the locator, allowing signals from specific antennas to be prioritized as needed.

Compatibility

The control method of the brd4185a board is compatible, so you can use the software

provided by Silicon Labs. You can use it for analysis.

brd4191a is not compatible because the board control method is different.
